What do you do for Be Me project?
Hi I’m Emma and I’m the Be Me blogger! So far I’ve written about 30 things I’ve learned in 30 years and the impact that social media is having on young people: Are You Brave Enough to Take a Social Media Detox?. I did an English literature degree at university so it’s fun to exercise my writing muscles occasionally.
Tell us about two highs in your life so far…
Getting married to a man who is completely right for me & starting our own little family has been such a fun adventure. The other high that always comes to my mind was seeing the night sky in Africa for the first time. Africa has so little pollution that the sky was absolutely ablaze with stars; it took my breath away.
What about two lows?
When I was 28, I lost my dad a week before my second son was born. It was heartbreaking to me that they did not get to meet. I gave my son my Dads name as his middle name and he has blue eyes and a dimple in his chin just like him!
Another low- I’ve struggled a bit with anxiety throughout my life. Sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s quiet but it’s never completely gone away. One day I hope it will be gone for good but I’ve learned to live with it for now.
Tell us a lesson you have learned in life…
Well I wrote a lot of these in my 30 things I’ve learned in 30 years blog post so I’ll steal one of those – learn how to laugh at yourself. It really disarms people if they want to make fun of you but you beat them to it! Everyone relaxes around someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
Thanks Emma, lovely to hear more about you x
